Travel North of 54 to Flin Flon, MB to discover The Water and the Wild! This three night stay at the beautiful Bakers Narrows Lodge will include a Boreal Taste Test, foraging through a pristine forest and a ‘take-away’ of your favourite northern herbs or tea. Learn about our world famous mineral rich topography with Geologist Thomas Heine as you ‘walk through a volcano’. Explore the pristine lakes with a guided pontoon boat tour or simply grab a kayak or canoe to explore the area on your own. If you are a nighthawk take in the Big Island Drive which starts after sunset. This package will include a fine-dining experience with some great live dinner music of your choice.

Day One

EVENING DRIVE IN – if you still have some energy after your drive this might be a nice way to end the evening.
Reminder: Times vary depending on the setting sun. Check with the front office to find out when the movie starts. Popcorn, pretzels, hot dogs, poutine and so much more. Come for the food…stay for the movie!

Day Two
Morning Breakfast at Bakers Narrows Lodge
10:00 – 10:20 Travel to Uptown Flin Flon. Meet at the Uptown Emporium
10:30- 11:30 Starting at the Uptown Emporium we will pick up a Coffee, Latte or Ice Cap at one of Manitoba’s great cafe’s – The Orange Toad located on 79 Main Street. Take a stroll along Main Street and check out some quintessential Flin Flon shops like Northern Rainbows End, Pharmasave, Ped’s Threads, Baba’s Bulk Bin, Nasselquist Jewelry and Dembinsky’s Clothing store.
11:30 Lunch Chicken Chef
1:00 – 3:30 TASTE OF THE NORTH: From the Uptown Emporium you will be led to your Taste of the North tour starting at the Flin Flon Rotary Wheel located in the town’s Campground.
Experience a forest walk like no other. A tasting journey through the forest ending in a delightful culinary creation made with your own foraged plants, tree foliage or roots. Sample the flavors of times past, as you gather and learn about the wild plants surrounding you. Listen to the sounds of the forest, hear the stories of the plants and how they are connected, immerse yourself in the wilderness and the weeds
6:30 Dinner at Bakers Narrows Lodge and Music just for you. Let us entertain you. Instrumental
music while you enjoy your dinner and a special Flin Flon ROCKS! performance just for you at 7:30.
Evening Take some time to enjoy your surroundings – grab a kayak or canoe again and explore a little more of the lake. Try your hand at fishing or maybe tonight is your Drive Inn Movie Night.
Day Three

Geology tour part 1 Flin Flon Mining Academy
The introductory lecture will comprise a very condensed discussion about the history of Earth, geologic time and the non-random nature of volcanic activity. The field trip will comprise observing the well-preserved features in the volcanic sequence exposed in the North Avenue Park exposures. Sturdy shoes are required and bug dope recommended.

KAYAKING PADDLE EXCURSION
Discover the unique shoreline of the Canadian Shield while paddling through the crystal clear waters of Lake Athapapuskow as you explore the endless bays, islands and coves in this majestic setting.
A (3 hour) Scenic Pontoon Boat Tour – Come and explore the beautiful, majestic landscape of Lake Athapapuskow from the comfort of our 18 passenger pontoon boat as we sail along the vast Canadian shield and miles of majestic shorelines of Lake Athapapuskow, you will surely enjoy the ride and scenic views from the pontoon boat on this excursion… Lake Athapapuskow in the Cree language means “rock all around” which includes the magnificent Limestone cliffs with sheer drops that are said to be thousands of years old.
