Bakers Narrows Lodge located in Northern Manitoba offers a wealth of interesting things to do. A three-day getaway to discover some native traditions passed on by mouth from generation to generation. You take part in a sculpting clinic guided by world class carver Irvin Head. Irvin will coach you, showing you how to carve soapstone into an intriguing image.

Lisa Head will give a talk on the use of native medicinal herbs and will guide you in the making of your own miniature teepee.

Theresa Wride will guide you as you discover the art of Caribou Hair Tufting. You will take home a wall hanging you’ve done.In addition, we will be entertained by a group of first nation singers doing a traditional chant.

We just need a little help to see it sometimes.

We’ll break for coffee at 10:30. Then back to working on our own carving. Lunch will be served at 12:00. We’ll enjoy:

At 1:15 we will regroup to hear Lisa’s talk on the use of Native Medicinal Herbs. Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge passed down verbally from generation to generation. More and more we are finding that Nature has already provided us with what we need to improve health and vitality.

After a 3 p.m. coffee break, we will either work on our carvings, hear more on the use of herbs or take the opportunity to walk in the Provincial Park across the road, and possibly even climb the look-out tower to gain a panoramic view of our beautiful spot.
